1. Egypt is currently home to Mohammed al Zawahiri.

Mohammed al Zawahiri is the brother of al Qaeda's leader, Ayman al Zawahiri.

Ayman al-Zawahiri, an Egyptian-born cleric, has called on jihadists to attack and kidnap Westerners.

The UK government has raised the terror threat level for Egypt from 'general' to 'high', meaning an attack is likely.

Clinton in Algeria

The US military is seeking 'more capability' to stir up trouble in Africa.

Terror Fight Shifts to Africa - WSJ.com

The move, according to administration and congressional officials, will be aimed at allowing U.S. military operations in Mali, Nigeria, Libya and possibly other countries.

The idea comes as the U.S. prepares by 2014 to draw down its remaining forces in Afghanistan, which were authorized by Congress in response to the CIA's Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

That authorization has since been applied to involvement with the CIA's al Qaeda-linked groups as far as Somalia and Yemen.

The discussion about seeking new authority underscores the growing U.S. involvement with Islamic extremists in North Africa, where an al Qaeda offshoot has seized control of territory following a coup in Mali to provide the group and its offshoots a working base for operations.

The U.S. administration believes that the Mali situation is a "powder keg" that could destabilize surrounding countries and greatly help Western interests.

General Carter Ham.

Reportedly, U.S. General Carter Ham was arrested for activating special forces teams to help Ambassador Stevens in Libya, thus ignoring a stand-down order.

On 18 October 2012, US Defence Secretary Panetta said, "Today I am very pleased to announce that President Obama will nominate General David Rodriguez to succeed General Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command.”

“Rogue” U.S. General Arrested for Activating Special Forces Team

Whistle blowers throughout the U.S. government, including within the White House, the State Department, national intelligence agencies and the U.S.military have made available stunning details that suggest not only did operational commanders have live visual and audio communications from drones overhead and intelligence assets on the ground, but that some commanders within the military were prepared to go-it-alone after being told to “stand down.”

Africom commanding officer U.S. General Carter Ham, after being ordered to essentially surrender control of the situation to alleged Al Queda terrorists and let Americans on the ground die, made the unilateral decision to ignore orders from the Secretary of Defense and activated special operations teams at his disposal for immediate deployment to the area.

According to reports, once the General went rogue he was arrested within minutes by his second in command and relieved of duty.

“(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place,” Panetta told Pentagon reporters. “And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

The information I heard today was that General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready.

General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command.

A General who made the decision to assist diplomatic and intelligence assets on the ground has been arrested and will likely be retired or worse, while those who ordered the removal of embassy security details and ordered U.S. forces to stand-down are left to go on about their business and likely risk more American lives in the future.

Tony Blair has a number of charities.

One is called the Africa Governance Initiative, and allegedly it's about making money for people like Blair, and possibly it's about sending spooks into Africa?

The Africa Governance Initiative has a base in Rwanda, where Blair has been a long-time supporter of its 'murderous', 'mafia' leader Paul Kagame.

The Islamic terrorists in Algeria secretly work for the spooks.

The following is taken from an article entitled: The Ugly Truth about Algeria

(The article is by John R. Schindler, professor of national-security affairs at the U.S. Naval War College. He is a former counterintelligence officer with the National Security Agency.)

The official story is straightforward.

Two decades ago, Algeria's military-led junta ...cancelled a democratic election...

U.S. Army Africa's commanding general meets with Algerian military and government leaders in Algiers, Algeria, in 2010Website for this image

By 1993, the supremely violent Armed Islamic Group (GIA) emerged as 'the implacable foe of the regime'...

GIA was the creation of Algeria's military intelligence service the DRS.

The aim was to discredit foes of the regime.

(Compare with the UK security services 'running the IRA', and the CIA 'running Al Qaeda'. Reportedly, French intelligence also helped run the terrorist GIA  - Aangirfan)

Street-Working Algerian Kids (1910)
By postaletrice

The GIA conducted brutal attacks not just in Algeria but in Europe as well, including a wave of bombings in Paris in the summer of 1995, remembered by terrorism gurus as Al Qaeda’s first attacks on the West...

In 2006, Al Qaeda brought these Algerian mujahidin into its ranks, renaming the local franchise Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM)...

The French killed many Algerians. Over a million Algerians died between 1954 and 1962.

So, the Islamist GIA was the creation of the DRS, Algeria's military intelligence service...

Much of  the GIA’s leadership consisted of DRS agents, who drove the group into the dead end of mass murder, a ruthless tactic that thoroughly discredited GIA Islamists among nearly all Algerians.

Most of its major operations were the handiwork of the DRS, including the 1995 wave of bombings in France.

Some of the most notorious massacres of civilians were perpetrated by military special units masquerading as mujahidin, or by GIA squads under DRS control...

The Algerian security service DRS may also control al Qaeda in Algeria...

Algeria’s neighbors... reject the idea that extremists can be combated only by... the United States...

Mali’s head of state security, who is charged with keeping Algerian mujahidin out of his country, told the press in June 2009 that “at the heart of local Al Qaeda (AQIM) is the Algerian security service, the DRS.” Shortly thereafter, he was shot dead at home by “unknown gunmen.”

U.S. interest in the North African Sahel has only grown in recent years, roughly in tandem with the alleged rise of AQIM (the local al qaeda) in the region.

It is no coincidence that the U.S. Army is aligning a combat brigade with U.S. Africa Command and the Pentagon’s interest in the region is rising fast...

While most Algerians want an end to... the corrupt military elite that has run the country since France left in 1962, few pine for any sort of Islamist dictatorship...

Mid-May parliamentary elections resulted in a surprising win for the junta... but infighting among the elite may undo the system...

The New Zealand Listener reported on the links between the French security services and the 'Islamic terrorists' in Algeria.

'In recent years, firm evidence has begun to emerge from Algerian military sources and leading academics that the dreaded GIA has been – perhaps from the outset and certainly under Zitouni's bloody leadership – a dummy, or 'screen' organisation managed by French/Algerian counter-intelligence.'

Reportedly, the Algerian military, disguised as terrorists, were barbaric.

In February 2001, 'The Dirty War', by Habib Souaidia, a former Algerian army officer, was published.

It tells of the part played by the Algerian army in the killing of tens of thousands of Algerians.

Habib writes:"I have seen colleagues burn alive a 15-year-old child.

"I have seen soldiers disguising themselves as terrorists and massacring civilians.

"I have seen colonels kill mere suspects in cold blood.

"I have seen officers torture fundamentalists to death...."

The United States has built a huge military surveillance base at Tamanrasset in Algeria.

US forces are training the Algerian military.

Washington wants to provide Algiers with pilot-less drone planes.

This military base is a result of agreements signed between Washington and Algiers for oil industry development.

In addition, the United States has worked to include Algeria in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and considers this North African country one of its most important allies outside of NATO.

Boko Haram emir Abubakar Shekau

On 7 August 2012, it was reported that gunmen had fired on worshippers in a church in central Nigeria, killing at least 19 people.

The terror group Boko Haram may have been involved.

Boko Haram is thought to have carried out more than 660 killings in Nigeria during 2012.

"We have already been regaled with reports provided by the Wikileaks which identified the US embassy in Nigeria as a forward operating base for wide and far reaching acts of subversion against Nigeria which include but not limited to eavesdropping on Nigerian government communication, financial espionage on leading Nigerians, support and funding of subversive groups and insurgents, sponsoring of divisive propaganda among the disparate groups of Nigeria and the use of visa blackmail to induce and coerce high ranking Nigerians into acting in favour of US interests.

"But beyond what we know from the Wikileaks report, what many Nigerians do not know is that US embassy’s subversive activities in Nigeria fits into the long term US government’s well camouflaged policy of containment against Nigeria the ultimate goal of which is to eliminate Nigeria as a potential strategic rival to the US in the African continent."
